Windy in Frisco - Frisco Lakes Challenge

Scott R Chilcutt, Frisco, TX (April 8, 2017)  Saturday of Masters weekend, saw the Dallas Tour sell out its fourth event in four attempts on the year.  This go round quickly set up for a big challenge with southerly winds sustained at 25 MPH and gusts plenty harder.

The winner of the Feherty's Troops First Foundation 50/50 raffle, took home $560, bringing the Texas Tour local events total to $5,970 in contributions to the Foundation in 2017.

RESULTS:

Championship Flight:  In his last four attempts on tour, Nick Quast of Trophy Club, TX, hadn't been beaten since June 2016. With the live scoring at the turn, it looked like things may change up a bit when he was sitting in a T4 spot, but then three birdies over his last five holes quashed all those thoughts.  For Quast, the win was his thirteenth on tour, and he finished three strokes clear of Senior Championship Flight player, Marshall Morgan of Odessa, TX.  Rounding out the top three, another Senior player,  Jack Carlile, of Lewisville, TX, finished one stroke back of Morgan.

Palmer Flight:  Playing alongside a pair of Championship Flight players, Michael Barr, of  Lewisville, TX, made the most of the pairing.  Barr went out, +1 with a birdie on the par 4 - 2nd, and then cruised to the victory, putting an exclamation mark on his second win on tour with another birdie a the par 5 - 18th.  Seven strokes back, Rockwall, TX, player Joseph Roy, picked off the runner-up spot, with Paul Stanton of Broken Arrow, OK, with an eagle on the par 5 - 18th and Crowley, TX, player John Sells, tied up in third place.

Senior Palmer Flight:  With the monkey off his back, after winning his first event at Indian Creek in March, Nic Linde of Keller, TX, continued his roll.  Linde, with a pair of 38's, and birdies on the par 4 - 10th and par 4 - 13th, cleared second place by four strokes.  The pair of Jalil Danesfar of Trophy Club, TX, and Ken Dyke, of Keller, TX, split the runner-up honors.

Hogan Flight:  Playing on tour since 2013, Deon Barber of nearby Frisco, TX, had yet to see the winners circle.  Competing in a jam packed and combined field of Hogan and Senior Hogan Flight players, Barber, picked one his toughest tests to break through for the win.  Four strokes back, Flower Mound, TX, member Mark Rainwater, grabbed the runner-up spot with Bobby Duty of Midland, TX, and Fort Worth, TX, resident, Jeff Gandy knotted up in the third place spot.

Sarazen Flight:  Irving, TX, first-time player Ryan Sosnowski, played his way into a battlefield promotion winning his first time out.  Three strokes back, Nancy Giehl of Grand Prairie, TX, equaled her best finish of the points season in the runner-up spot, with Bedford, TX, player Darren Bufton and Scott Striegel of Southlake, TX, splitting the third place finish.
Senior Sarazen Flight:  Playing in his first event since relocating to the DFW area from Houston, Glynn Aldredge of Fairview, TX, took a liking to the North Texas winds.  Aldredge picked up his second win on tour and first since the 2014 event at the Golf Club of Houston. One stroke back, Grand Prairie, TX, member Tom Stockton, with a birdie on the par 4 - 10th, finished alone in second with  Jon Neff of nearby Frisco, TX, and Haslet, TX, player Burnie Rodgers rounding out the top three.

Jones Flight:  Wylie, TX, player Jeff Ackerman, SR, picked up his third win of the season and fourth on tour. Two strokes back, John Partain, of Bedford, TX, a winner his last time out, took home the second place winnings, with Jeffrey Ackerman, JR, of Celina, TX, and Dallas, TX, member Mike Lee sharing the show place honors.
