Fairview Classic @ Heritage Ranch Golf and Country Club

Scott R Chilcutt, McKinney, TX (June 9, 2013)  The Fairview Classic at Heritage Ranch continued into the Summer Series points and started what's bound to be a hot series.   Morning thunderstorms across the metroplex delayed starting times by 30 minutes or so, but the good news was the delay and course drainage kept the players off the cart paths.  With summer time heat underway and spring's winds subsiding it looks like we will be out with the ice towels next time around.

Mike Adcock of Saginaw, TX  took home his second Tournament Champion Trophy, presented by Carlisle's Engraving of the year after winning earlier at the Frisco Lakes Challenge in March.

RESULTS:

Championship Flight:  John Bohling of Highland Village, TX came to the club house in even par on the back nine with a birdie on the par 5 -11th to grab his second win on tour.  Two strokes back, first time tour player Drew Ireland of Dallas had a tough start on the front nine, but carded three birdies on the back to make up ground and finish in the runner up spot.   One stroke back of Ireland, Dallas Webster of Wylie, TX rounded out the top three.

Palmer Flight:  Grandbury, TX member Brack Blackwood went one under on the final two holes to seal his eighth win on tour and second on the season by two strokes.  The pair of Cameron Kirkpatrick of Dallas and Frisco, TX first year member Steve Ward swapped 40, 41's to share the second place honors.

Senior Palmer Flight:   Sean Fenton of Fort Worth, TX defended his 2012 Heritage Ranch Classic win for his eighth win on tour and third of the year.  Garland, TX member Kem Albritton went one under par over his last five holes to tie up the second place finish with Terry Wooten of Grapevine, TX.  It was Wooten's best finish in his two years on tour.

Hogan Flight:  Three players, Gabriel Brisco  of Mesquite, TX,  Denton, TX member Cory Womack and Gregory Stairs of Mansfield, TX knotted up with the low score and took extra holes to finalize the win.  In the largest flight of the day, Stairs played the back nine in -1 on three birdies.  He then went from looking at a win, to self imposing a penalty that was mistakenly thought to be DQ, to what would become a two stroke penalty, to a playoff.  After two extra holes, Brisco would come out on top to become the second player on the day to defend his 2012 Heritage Ranch Classic title for his fourth win on tour and second of the year.

Sarazen Flight:  After stringing together a series of five top three finishes and eight top five finishes, Rockwall, TX player Joseph Roy finally broke out for his first win on the year and second on tour. Five strokes back, George Peddy of Bedford, TX added a runner up finish to one earlier in the year at Indian Creek and Willie Dozier of Garland, TX rounded out the top three for his best finish on the season.

Senior Sarazen Flight:  Bob Moreau of Rockwall, TX and Frisco, TX resident Jamie Sansom, playing out of the same cart, swapped better nines but in the end, Moreau held on for a one stroke win, his sixth on tour and first of the year.  One stroke back of Sansom the pair of Bob Eustice of  Garland, TX and Dallas member Rick Allaire shared the third place finish.

Jones Flight:  On a self promoted hiatus from the Jones Flight, Nick Easen of Keller, TX decided he should move back if he wanted to get to the Nationals and be competitive.  In his first event since the eligible move, Easen picked up his ninth win on tour and second on the year.  One stroke back Trecia Wood of Frisco, TX recorded her third runner up finish on the year and shared that honor with second time player Jeff Workman of Fort Worth, TX.

Senior Jones Flight:   Ray Hund of Plano, TX became a first time winner on tour.  Hund, with a birdie on the par 5 - 11th hole edged out Oklahoma Tour member K.C. Montgomery of Fairview, OK by a single stroke.  Montgomery's back nine 44 kept his runner up finish in tact by one stroke over Houston Tour member Lu Cormier of Missouri City, TX.

Snead Flight:  Saginaw, TX player Mike Adcock started his day with a birdie on the par 4 -10th hole to record his second win on tour and extend his Order of Merit Points lead.  Local McKinney, TX member Larry Tolson on the Major trail since April, with a recent fourth place finish at the Southeast Amateur at Chateau Elan took the runner up spot.  Oklahoma Tour member, Sammie Martin of Elgin, OK finished four strokes back in the show position.

Chasing Away The Storms - Fort Worth Championship - Waterchase

Scott R Chilcutt, Fort Worth, TX (June 1, 2013)  Marking the 1st day of the Dallas Tour Summer Series Points to go along with the National Championship eligibility requirements for one round after June 1st, The Fort Worth Championship @ Waterchase Golf Club stayed relatively dry for the dismal forecast and skies.

Brisk southerly winds from Friday laid down to make a short layout from some of the tees, add to that the mid round northerly front that produced some light rain showers, everyone finished dry and in the light of day.

Vaughn Jackson and Gary Chrisman went to a scorecard playoff for the Tournament Champion Trophy, presented by Carlisle's Engraving where Chrisman picked up his second special award in as many attempts.

RESULTS:

Sarazen Flight:   Melvin Wilson III from Dallas, TX defended his 2012 Fort Worth Championship @ Waterchase win and first title since being promoted to the Sarazen Flight.  Wilson's +9 - 81 was two strokes clear of Plano, TX member Dave Ducray, while Ducray edged out Joseph Roy of Rockwall, TX by a stroke for the runner up spot.

Senior Sarazen Flight: Wichita Falls, TX member Derek Drake went out in +3 with a birdie on the par 3 -12th, but opened the door on his back nine for Mark Donohue of Lewisville, TX, that would require extra holes to seal the deal.  On the third playoff hole, Donohue picked up his first win on tour.  One stroke back a hard charging Rockwall, TX resident Bob Moreau played his final nine in even par on two birdies to complete the top three.

Jones Flight:  Coming off a win at the Broken Arrow Open the previous week, Oklahoma Tour Player Gary Chrisman of Yukon, OK carded his seventh win on tour and third of the points season. Looking for his third win on the season, Vaughn Jackson of Euless, TX fell just one stroke shy for the runner up finish with Garrett Tidman of Little Elm in the third place position.
