Dallas Tour Slip and Slide Through Indian Creek

Scott R Chilcutt, Carrollton, TX (March 21, 2015)  Bordering the Elm Fork of the Trinity River, Indian Creek Golf Club in the flats of Carrollton, TX, has had a history on the Dallas Tour of early spring water.  Some from the sky, like 2013 and some from the flooding in 2012.  This year the course, was simply sloppy due to the previous days of rain in the Metroplex.  60-80% chances of rain with a radar that would scare most away from the course, turned into dry skies, with over 100 players making the call.

Phillip Mayo (Senior Hogan Flight) and Davis Noble (Senior Sarazen Flight) took advantage of the Srixon Ball Challenge and will get an extra dozen shipped to there home address.  Sven Bock, took home the Tournament Champion Trophy, presented by Carlisle's Engraving.

RESULTS:

Championship Flight:  Midland, TX traveler, Terry Rice, coming off the 2014 points season struggling with back issues, proved to have those ailments on the run.  Rice a winner in December at the Hawaii Amateur Championship, jumped right back into the fray at Indian Creek completing his third win on the track and eleventh on tour.  Andrew Morsinkhoff of Rockwall, TX made the turn at even par, but could only match Rice on the back, settling for the runner up finish, two strokes back. Andrew Braun of Trophy Club, TX and Tyler, TX first time player Chris Gaston shared the third place finish, two strokes back of the runner up spot.

Palmer Flight:  David Wright of Flower Mound, TX  went to the sixteenth tee box with a two stroke advantage, but things changed quickly.  Taking a +5 - 10 on the par 5 16th, Wright would bounce back with a birdie on the par 4 - 17th, just enough to pick up his fourth win on tour and first of the season.  First time Fort Worth, TX player Todd Arnold, with a birdie on the par 3 - 14th would double the final hole to finish one stroke back to card a second place finish. Clay Johnston of Lewisville, TX finished out the show place finish, just two strokes out of the lead.

Senior Palmer Flight:   Campaigning for a demotion to the Senior Hogan Flight, Michael Rutkoski of McKinney, TX didn't help his cause when he played the front nine in +1 with a birdie on the par 3 - 5th, finished the back nine in + 4 and won his first event on tour with two strokes to spare.  Kem Albritton of Garland, TX, a winner his last time out at the November Frisco Lakes Challenge, made birdie on the par 3 - 12th, but finished the day with two bogies, relegating him to the runner up spot.  Grapevine, TX member Terry Wooten, run over in a maintenance cart incident in Houston, carded the low round of the flight on the back nine to round out the top three.

Hogan Flight:   Terron Gaines of Euless, TX trod-ed around the layout staying out of any real trouble, grabbing his fourth win on tour with a par on the eighteenth.  One stroke back,  Lewisville, TX member, Shawn Whitaker, the leader in the clubhouse after a number of groups with the help of a birdie on the par 5 - 11th took care of the runner up points.   Scott Harper of Ranger, TX came off the tee with guns a blazing, playing his first ten in -1, with birdies on the par 5 - 3rd and par 5 - 6th before running into a train wreck on the back.  Harper would play the string of holes from 11 - 16 in +11 relegating himself to the third place finish.
Senior Hogan Flight:  Gulf Coast / Louisiana Tour member Phillip Mayo from Leesville, LA,  kept a relatively clean score card through sixteen holes, but then ran into a few snags, but had plenty of cushion to win his eleventh on tour, second on Texas soil and first of the season.  Two strokes back, Jalil Daneshfar of Trophy Club, TX picked up the runner up honors with Dallas, TX member, Kenneth Mack rounding out the top three.

Sarazen Flight:   Richard Marr of The Colony, TX made birdies on the par 4 - 9th and par 5 - 11th to pick up his eighth win on tour and first since his last outing at the 2013  Classic @ The Creek - Indian Creek Golf Club.   Two strokes back,  Richardson, TX resident, Sven Bock, with a birdie on the par 5 - 16th took home the runner up prizes with Fort Worth, TX player Preston Miller claiming the third place honors.

Senior Sarazen Flight:  Lake Kiowa, TX player Davis Noble held on to a strong field of eighteen players for his second win on tour and first since the 2013  2013 Las Colinas Championship.  Two strokes back, Nicky Baugh of Alto, TX made birdie on the par 5 - 6th to stay ahead of a pair tied two strokes back.  Both players, in their first time out on tour, Chris Howl of Arlington, TX, with a birdie on the par 3 - 12th and Hideaway, TX resident Alan Eisenmann, with a birdie on the par 5 - 6th split the third and fourth place points

Jones Flight:   Plano, TX member, Steve Pearson became a three time winner on tour with a four stroke cushion.  On his heals during the front nine, Doyle Fleming from Haslet, TX, a two time winner in his last two outings, faltered on the back nine to settle for second place.  Lewisville, TX player Ron Hardy rounded out the top three.

Snead Flight:  In an abbreviated flight due to a no show, Thomas Rauch of Arlington, TX picked up his second win on tour and first win of the season with the help of a birdie on the par 5 - 6th. One stroke back, Stan Harper of Lake Leon, TX, with a birdie of his own on the par 3 - 14th captured the second place points.
