Dallas Players Around The Tour

Scott R Chilcutt, Edmond, OK (May 26, 2011)  Dallas players take the stage around the country.

Jamie Sansom from Frisco, TX kept his winning streak alive, topping the Senior Sarazen field at the  The Payne Stewart Championship in Branson, MO by four strokes for his third win in a row.  Sansom was the leader in the clubhouse after the first day, would go on to win wire to wire despite tweaking his knee on the final day.

Odessa's Marshall Morgan would finish third in the Championship Flight, further solidifying his National Championship Qualification win at the Texas Open at Horseshoe Bay in March.

In other action at the Cowan Creek Golf Club on the Austin / San Antonio Tour, Hillsborough's Jimmy Boehm would record 4 birdies on the back nine shooting a 77 in the Senior Sarazen Flight to take his first win since the The Texas Star Fall Open last November.

Burnie Rodgers from Haslet finished T3 and grabbed a skin with a birdie on the par 5 - 12th hole.

Next up - Texas Masters at TPC San Antonio, June 4th, 5th.   The Dallas Tour resumes competition at the Casper Challenge at Bear Creek on June 26th where the field WILL be limited, be sure to enter early.  Oklahoma Tour resumes play at the site of the 2010 tour Championship, Shawnee Country Club on June, 11th.

Danny Nicholls @ The Colonial Pro Am

Scott R Chilcutt, Ft. Worth, TX (May 18, 2011)  Dallas Tour player Danny Nicholls (center in the pink) at the Crowne Plaza Invitation at Colonial Pro Am.  Rory Sabatini drained this 12 footer on the 9th hole for birdie to take the team to 8 under.  We're not sure where they ended up but do know that Anthony Kim's team finished a morning round at 16 under before most of the wind hit.

Challenge at The Cliffs - Recap

Scott R. Chilcutt, Possum Kingdom Lake (May 14, 2011)  Less than a month from widespread mandatory evacuations at Possum Kingdom Lake due to wildfires, the Golf Channel Am Tour descended on The Cliffs Resort Golf Course for a scheduled stop on the Dallas tour.  While the resort was spared any damage from the fires the course was hot for the competition.  The Challenge at The Cliffs was everything it was billed to be, ranked one of the toughest courses in Texas, the challenge was on.

Mild temperatures, gusty / variable winds, clear skies and beautiful vistas would welcome sixty tour members that made the call to the first tee but only 54 would turn in score cards, where the field averaged over 25 strokes over par.

Grand Prairies, Nancy Giehl would keep it out of the ravines to record her first Tournament Champion Trophy and Flight Championship, one stroke clear of Steve Brewster, Shawn Whitaker and Darrin Howard finishing in the 2nd spot.

Next up, sold out Major events, The Payne Stewart Championship, May 21st, 22nd  and the Texas Masters at TPC San Antonio, June 4th, 5th.   The Dallas Tour resumes competition at the Casper Challenge at Bear Creek on June 26th where the field WILL be limited, be sure to enter early.  Oklahoma Tour resumes play at the site of the 2010 tour Championship, Shawnee Country Club on June, 11th.

Results:

Championship Flight:  Steve Brewster from Trophy Club had four birdies on the day to take his first win on the tour.  Rockwall's, Andrew Morsinkhoff, currently second in Callaway Order of Merit points,  remained steady for his 2nd runner up position of the year over Tony Peppler of Southlake.

Palmer Flight:  In his first year on the tour, Fort Worth's Sean Fenton  parred the final two holes to stay one stroke clear of Kem Albritton from Garland and visiting Houston player from The Woodlands, Steve Smith.  Smith starting the first 4 holes in nine over par would turn it around on the back, firing a 2 over par 37 with 4 birdies to tie it up with Albritton.  Newly promoted Hogan Player Bronco von Hoerling would finish just three shots off the lead.

Hogan Flight:  Kevin Weaver from Lake Worth, started out at 4 over par on the front nine but rode the back nine to just clip out McKinney's Tim Williams by a stroke for his first win on the tour.  Williams would take the runner up spot in the Callaway Order of Merit points with his 2nd place finish.  Newcomer, Ryan Hise from Melissa, TX finished in the 3rd spot with Oklahoma Tour member, Bernard Valdez 4th.

Sarazen Flight:  Grand Prairie's Nancy Geihl would start out strong, firing 6 over par on the front to hang on to a one stroke advantage for her first win on the tour. Geihl, a National Championship qualifier in 2009, best previous finish was a 2nd at Stonebriar and T-2 at The Tribute in 2009.  Austin native, Jeff Banner now playing the Oklahoma tour from Lawton, OK,  finished just one stroke shy of Geihl for his best finish of the year.  Lewsiville's, Caleb Brown finished in the third spot and Scott Harper from Ranger, TX birdied the 18th hole to secure the fourth place finish.

Senior Sarazen Flight:  With a birdie on the par five 1st hole, Frisco's,  Jamie Sansom made it two for two after winning in Oklahoma just two weeks ago.  Jerrell Neely from Richland Hills, TX finished strong with 6 over par on the back but wasn't able to overcome a tough stretch of holes on the front, finished one back.  Ed Dye from Abiliene would take his third, 3rd finish of the year.

Jones Flight:   Shawn Whitaker from Lewisville would grab his 2nd win of the year by eight strokes over Keller, TX, Nick Easen.   Bob Holmok from Colleyville, TX and visiting Washington D.C. player Rick Houchins from Waldorf, MD tied up the show position.

Snead Flight:  In his 2nd win in as many attempts, Longview, TX Darrin Howard stayed clear of second place finisher Bill Hendrix from Flower Mound. The finish was the 5th 2nd place of the year for Hendrix who had 4 pars on the day to finish ahead of Burleson's, Carlos Cruz taking the 3rd spot.

Nancy Geihl Holding Back

Scott R Chilcutt, Edmond, OK (May 3, 2011)  As many of you know we tend to take a bunch of pictures at the events.  They all go into our Tour Gallery and occasionally we get some good shots.

This is Nancy Geihl of Garland - tee shot off #1 at The Tribute Open.  Wind in our face at between 30-35 mph required anything but delicacy.  Geihl would go on to have her best finish (T4) so far this year.

We're sure that will see her in the winner circle sooner than later.
