Dallas - Player of the Year Points

Stitching Has Started Will Your Name Be On a Bag?

Scott R Chilcutt, Edmond, OK (July 27, 2011)  Through a generous contribution from Pasture Road Golf Academy each flight will have a Player of the Year Award winner.

I'm sure you've seen the Callaway Staff Bag at all the tournaments with "YOUR NAME HERE" sign on it.  While the picture of the bags may look like a Golf Galaxy Store or a Callaway Showroom, it's my dining room.  All our bags are in place for the Oklahoma and Dallas tours and we are just waiting to award them at the Tour Championship at Cowboy.

Just a couple of notes on the points system:

  • Only points from LOCAL 2011 events on the Dallas schedule are included.  Majors are not part of the point system.
  • Only the best EIGHT points finishes from tournaments are included.
  • Points from the Tour Championship @ Cowboy will be doubled.

Simulated Doral # 18 Toughest During The Clash @ Tour 18 - Dallas

Scott R Chilcutt, Flower Mound, TX (July 23, 2011)  Cut into the hills 20 miles north of the DFW Airport, Tour 18 - Dallas is a championship replica golf course, simulating some of America's greatest golf holes.  The #3 hole on Tour 18 - Dallas is a replica of the 18th hole at Doral and on this day played 1.60 strokes over par and was a full 1/2 stroke higher than the average hole.

Doral Resort and Country Club, just 15 miles northwest of Miami International Airport is the home of the famed Blue Monster and site of this years Doral Classic, The Golf Channel Am Tour Major on August 13th and 14th.  The famous 18th hole, with its signature fountain, was ranked by GOLF Magazine as one of the Top 100 Holes in the World.  On this Saturday the 74 players that finished the round in Flower Mound understood its difficulty.

Many players familiar with the gnarly #17 at TPC Sawgrass found the #9 hole at Tour 18 a tad easier.  The hole ranked the 5th hardest but with red stakes instead of yellow it created some better scoring, averaging 4.38 strokes.

Prior to taking to the #1 tee for extra holes in a Sarazen Flight playoff, Preston Miller from Fort Worth, secured the Tour Championship trophy with a net 2 under par finishing just ahead of Larry Tolson at +1.

Over 1,000 miles to the Northwest, Patricia Island Estates and Golf Club, where country music and Heehaw legend Roy Clark keeps his lake home off the shores of Grand Lake was the site of the Grand Lake Showdown.
