Gus Aldana (Hogan Flight) was "Up for the Srixon Challenge", winning his flight playing a Srixon ball and will get a dozen sent to him for the win. Matching his win in the flight, Gus Aldana went on to grab the Tournament Champion Trophy, presented by Carlisle's Engraving, in a scorecard playoff with Cory Womack and Christopher Cobb.
RESULTS:
Championship Flight: Killeen, TX, player, Jordan Massey has a habit of showing up at the first tee of an event never setting eyes on the course and playing well. Just 24 hours shy of a trip to the Houston Tour, where Massey would lose out to a birdie on the first hole of a playoff, Sunday didn't take extra holes. With birdies on the par 5 - 8th and par 5 - 17th, Jordan did just enough to pick up his fifth win, to go along with two runner up finishes in seven events on tour. Andrew Morsinkhoff of Rockwall, TX, with three birdies on the day finished just one stroke back, with local McKinney, TX, player Tim Williams rounding out the top three.
Palmer Flight: On tour since 2011, Irving, TX, player Drue Thompson had a special day. Birdie on the par 5 - 8th just before the turn, followed by an ACE on the par 3 -12th, and another birdie on the par 4 - 14th was just enough for his first win on tour. The hole in one, Thompson's second in his life, but first since he was 12, was a clean 8 iron from 155 yards. Four strokes back, Brack Blackwood of Granbury, TX, with a birdie on his first hole out of the gate, the par 4 - 1st and Whitney, TX, player John Price, with consecutive birdies on the 2nd and 3rd holes shared the runner up honors.
Hogan Flight: Houston Tour traveler, Gus Aldana starting on the tenth hole, had one lone bogey to go with eight pars for an impressive +1 making the turn. Off the first hole, Aldana would then follow with birdies on the par 4 - 2nd and par 5 - 3rd, that would prove to be just enough for the win. It was Aldana's ninth win on tour, but first since the 2012 - Spring Branch Classic @ River Crossing on the Hill Country Tour. One stroke back, with two birdies on the back nine, Cory Womack of Denton, TX, would card his best finish of the season with Mesquite, TX, player Gabriel Brisco taking the final podium spot.
Senior Hogan Flight: Teeing it up on the tenth tee to start the day, Jalil Daneshfar of Trophy Club, TX, and John Cox of Mansfield, TX, made the turn all tied up. Cox would birdie the par 3 - 6th and DaneshFar would answer with his own at the par 5 - 8th to send it to extra innings. On the first hole of the sudden death, DaneshFar would prevail with a par for his ninth win on tour and second of the points season. One stroke back, first year player, Sal Torres of Fort Worth, TX, finished out in the third place spot to match his best finish on tour.
Sarazen Flight: Hill Country Tour player, Michael Hill of Live Oak, TX, came to town to break up a seemingly Sven Bock monopoly of late. Hill with birdies on the par 4 - 5th and par 4 - 10th was plenty to take care of Richardson, TX, member Sven Bock. Bock, now with three wins in his previous five outings adds another runner up finish, his fourth of the season. David Hickman of Rockwall, TX, with his second third place finish on the season maintained his third place position in the points.
Senior Sarazen Flight: Lefty, Bob Moreau playing out of Rockwall,TX, has been on tour since 2010. Accumulating five wins prior to the weekend it was the 2011 Bobcat Open when Moreau last took the top spot on the podium. Sunday broke that trend, and he did it with three strokes clear. Runner up, Billy Gilmore of Sims, TX, made it two in a row in the second place finish with Dallas, TX, player Rodney Wren picking up his best finish of the season rounding out the top three.
Jones Flight: San Diego, CA, native, Ray Tyczki, now residing in nearby McKinney, TX, picked up his first win on tour. Two strokes back, Jeremy Nolan of Rockwall, TX, held the runner up spot all alone with Mike Stansbury of Porter, TX and Carrollton, TX, player Scott Sears sharing the third place honors.
Snead Flight: Traveling in from the Hill Country, Christopher Cobb of Austin, TX, made the most of his trip for his third win on his first year on tour. Five strokes back, Arlington, TX, player Don Freitag grabbed the runner up honors with Ethan Blase, a winner his last time out, from Wylie, TX, taking the show place finish.
