After coming off a hot day on Monday at TPC Craig Ranch, just up the road from The Tribute, little did we know things could turn crazy bad. With the "feels like" temperature hovering around, 115 degrees, it was no help to realize that the course had very few shady spots. Despite the conditions, with only a few "falling out", the entire bunch that made the field, learned what it was like to spend the day in a Convection Oven.
The winner of the Feherty's Troops First Foundation 50/50 raffle, took home $630, with Texas Tour events total raised to $18,850 contributed to the Foundation in 2018.
RESULTS:
Championship Flight: Fresh off a run at the Pinehurst Amateur, the weekend before, where the green speeds were a recorded 12 1/2 on the Stimpmeter, Jack Carlile of Lewisville, TX, seemed right at home with the putter. Carlile started a little rocky with a double on the 2nd hole but went on to record five birdies on his day to finish, -2 for his fifth win on tour and fourth of the season. A two-time winner in his first year on tour, Cedar Hill, TX, member Chris Ransmottom, with a pair of birdies on his round, took home the runner-up spot. One stroke back, Tim Williams, of McKinney, TX, with three birdies of his own on the day, rounded out the top three, for his best finish of the season.
Palmer Flight: Putting an exclamation mark on his impending promotion with the revision in August, Murphy, TX, player Dallas Webster, finished with his second even-par win, in as many attempts. Webster, with four birdies on his round, cleared second place finisher, Chris Force of Fort Worth, TX, with three birdies on his card, by six strokes. One stroke back, Dallas, TX, player Chris Aronson, and four birdies, shared the showplace place finish, with Jordan Stockton of Grapevine, TX, with a birdie of his own on the par 4 - 13th.
Hogan Flight: Unable to come to a consensus on a cooler method to settle a playoff score, Dallas, TX, resident Michael Wilson and Randy Dorsey of Killeen, TX, headed back to the oven for the sudden death. The pair, both with a single birdie on the round, swapped front nine / back nine scores and would only be finalized with a par on the first extra hole by Dorsey for his fourth win of the season and fifth on tour. It was the best finish in his first year on tour for Wilson, with the pair of Southlake, TX, player Todd Winch, with three birdies on his back nine, and Tom Mant of Plano, TX, competing in his first event on tour, with two birdies, splitting the third-place finish.
Senior Hogan Flight: Perhaps, Court Pontiff of Bullard, TX, had an out of body experience, when he went -2 after four holes, added two more birdies on the back nine, to finish with a +2-74 for his first win on tour, that blew away his best score of +13 - 85. Relegated to the second place spot, Scott Slagel of Canton, TX, and Bedford, TX, resident Darren Bufton, both with birdies on the card, shared the runner-up honors.
Sarazen Flight: Rockwall, TX, player Jeremy Nolan, making the most of a birdie on the par 5 - 3rd, recorded his second win on tour and first since the 2015 event at Waterchase. Ronald Occenad made a trip after the round for some medical help, but not before he took home the runner-up finish, with birdies on the par 5 - 9th and the par 4 - 18th. Two strokes back of Occendad, McKinney, TX, player Carlos Malaver Osorio, rounded out the top three, with a birdie on the par 3 - 8th.
Senior Sarazen Flight: Despite starting both nine holes with triples, Nancy Geihl, of Grand Prairie, TX, finished with a strong - 2, with two birdies, over her last six holes, to pick up her ninth win on tour and first of the season. Rhome, TX, player Mike Cox, with consecutive birdies on 12 and 13, along with Bob Moreau, of Rockwall, TX, with the help of three birdies on his card, shared the runner-up finish.
Jones Flight: Frisco, TX, member Srinivas Pokunur, with a birdie on the par 3 - 8th picked up his second win on tour and first since the 2016 season. Hill Country Tour traveler, Michael Page of Burnet, TX, grabbed the second place finish, with Dallas, TX, member Mike Lee, rounding out the top three.
Snead Flight: Fabio Mazzilli, of Irving, TX, carded three birdies on his day for his third win, in his first season on tour. Duncanville, TX, player Christopher Johnson, with a birdie on the par 4 - 6th finished three strokes back, with Ron Hardy of Lewisville, TX, taking home the final podium spot.
