Rick Allaire Captures First Tour Win In Houston

Scott R Chilcutt, Edmond, OK (June 21, 2011)   The Tournament Course of The Woodlands Country Club was the site of the Houston Tours Woodlands event held on Monday.  Rick Allaire from Dallas topped the Sarazen Flight on Monday after the US Open at Congressional.

Originally designed by Robert Von Hagge and Bruce Devlin in 1978, the Tournament Course was known as the TPC at The Woodlands from 1985 through 2004. It has hosted 18 PGA Tour Houston Open events as well as the LPGA’s Samsung World Championship.

The Tournament Course enjoys a storied history with the biggest names in golf having walked these fairways and greens. Tournament winners over the years have included Vijay Singh, Payne Stewart, Curtis Strange, Raymond Floyd, Corey Pavin, David Duval and Hal Sutton. Other big names to have played here include Jack Nicklaus, Tom Watson, Tiger Woods, Greg Norman, Phil Mickelson and Annika Sorenstam.

Sarazen Flight:     Top 5:  Rick Allaire (81), Greg Stubblefield (82), Jeff Greenwood (87), Rick Smalley (90), Giancarlo Mangiafico (91).
 
Rick Allaire captured his first tour victory by one stroke with a round of 81.  Allaire carded eleven pars on the round and was just one-over on the back nine.  Greg Stubblefield had the victory in his sights but 3-putted on the last hole to capture second place honors and round of 82. 





Next up, The Oklahoma Tour resumes play on July 9th at the Clary Fields Classic and the Dallas Tour heads to exclusive Las Colinas Country Club for the Las Colinas Championship on Monday, July 11th.   Registration for both events close on July 1.
