NOTICE TO CONTESTANTS

This competition shall be governed by the current USGA Rules of Golf. The following Local Rules & Definitions shall also be in effect. Disregard all Local Rules & Definitions posted in the golf shop or on the course scorecard. Unless otherwise noted, the penalty for breach for a local rule or condition is two strokes.

TEEING GROUNDS:     
Championship / Palmer  – BLACK   
Senior Palmer / Hogan / Senior Hogan / Sarazen / Senior Sarazen – Blue
Jones / Senior Jones / Snead – White
Play will be from the designated tee markers and not necessarily the scorecard yardages.


STARTING TIME - RULE 6-3:   It is the responsibility of the player to be at the correct starting hole 10 minutes in advance of the start time. A 2-stroke penalty will be assessed to any player not ready to play at his/her starting time. Note to rule 6-3 and optional condition in appendix 1. If a player arrives after his group has played their 2nd shots, the player shall be disqualified.

SkyCaddie PACE OF PLAY: 4:30    Each group is individually responsible for maintaining and policing their groups pace of play. The finishing time for each hole is located on each scorecard. Players may inform another contestant that he/she is the cause of the group being out of position as a courtesy to that player. Rules Officials are not required to notify groups that they are out of position

·         For the 1st group, a 1-stroke penalty will be assessed for failing to complete the front or back nine in 2 hours 15 minutes or less
·         For all subsequent groups, a 1-stroke penalty will be assessed to any group failing to complete their 9th hole in 2 hours and 15 minutes and within 14 minutes of the group in front of them
·         1-stroke penalty will be assessed for any group playing in 4:30+ and finishing 14+ minutes behind the group in front of them.

RULE 3-3:  For any ruling question or doubt as to procedure please invoke Rule 3-3.  Rule 3-3 is announcing your intention to play two (2) balls and declare to your competitors which ball you are playing in accordance with USGA rules - complete the hole with both balls, and bring to the attention of the tournament committee before you turn in your scorecard. 

CELL PHONES: Cell phones are permitted but must be in the “silent” or “quiet” position

ELECTRONIC DEVICES: Electronic devices such as iPods and MP3 players are prohibited during tournament play. A breach of this rule is cause for disqualification

LIMITATION ON GOLF BALLS: Each player should put an identification mark on his ball and alert his fellow competitors of such. The one ball rule is not in effect (players cannot substitute a golf ball during a hole unless it is lost out of bounds or lost in a hazard)

THE BALL WILL BE PLAYED DOWN THROUGH THE GREEN  - EMBEDDED BALL RULE IS IN EFFECT

OUT OF BOUNDS:  LOCAL RULE IN EFFECT -  Out of bounds is defined by white stakes and / or fences bordering the golf course.

n  Any ball that is Out of Bounds MUST BE played under penalty of ONE stroke from the point where the ball last crossed the margin of the boundary – 2 club lengths , no nearer the hole.

WATER HAZARDS:  All water hazards are defined by yellow stakes and lines, all lateral water hazards are defined by red stakes and lines. 

IMMOVABLE OBSTRUCTIONS: Air circulation fans around putting greens are considered Temporary Immovable Obstructions

RULE 27-2:  If a ball may be lost outside a water hazard, to save time a player may play another ball provisionally.  Be sure to notify your pairing the difference in the two balls.

PRACTICE BETWEEN HOLES PROHIBITED:  Note 2  to Rule-7 & Optional Condition in Appendix I shall be in effect.  Two stroke penalty at the next hole, or if it’s the last hole of the stipulated round, one stroke at that hole. 

DISCONTINUANCE OF PLAY:  Note under Rule 6-8b and Optional Condition as prescribed in Appendix 1 shall be in effect.  All practice areas are closed during suspension for a dangerous situation until the Committee has declared them open.  A player using such practice areas will be subject to a penalty of disqualification. 

SCORECARD:  Return signed and attested scorecard to the scoring area immediately upon completion of play.  Each member of the group must be present to present their scorecards.  The scorecard is deemed to be returned once the player has left the scoring area. Penalty for breach of this condition – Disqualification. 

USE OF ELECTRONIC MEASURING DEVICES: The use of electronic yardage or distance measuring devices is permitted during all rounds.  Devices that measure wind speed, direction, and elevation changes are not allowed. 

RULES COMMITTEE:  Any and all GOLF CHANNEL Amateur Tour staff member.  Coyote Ridge “professional” staff will also be able to make rulings on any “local” rules that are not noted in the above notice to contestants.
