Scott R Chilcutt, Fairview, TX (June 10, 2012) The Heritage Ranch Classic was the last Dallas Tour event before our Major Championship break for the Red River Shootout at Winstar on June 23rd/24th. The Heritage Ranch Golf and Country Club located in the middle of the Heritage Ranch, just 25 minutes northeast of Dallas is a gated community for active adults 55 and older.
90 Players from Arkansas, Dallas, Houston, the Hill Country and Virginia took on the Arthur Hills design that played firm and fast with hot and humid sunny skies and variable winds. Scoring for most was a challenge with the tricky layout but those with the ability to keep it in the short grass were awarded. Britt McMullen won the score card playoff for the Tournament Champion Trophy, presented by Labor Finders over Gabriel Briscoe and Mike Logsdon.
RESULTS:
Championship Flight: Going out in two over and coming to the club house in two over would be enough for Eric Swanson from Plano, TX to pick up his first win. Swanson would birdie the par four 10th hole but needed a bogey save on the 18th to stay one stroke clear of Rockwall, TX member Andrew Morsinkhoff. Chad Johnson from Cleburne, TX would finish in the show position just one stroke back.
Palmer Flight: Ivan Zweig from Dallas, TX holed out for an eagle two on the first hole in route to his first win on tour since the The Texas Star Fall Open in November of 2010. Zweig would add three birdies on the round to finish with a +3 - 75 three strokes clear of the pair of Michael Rutkoski from McKinney and Grandbury, TX member Burt Preissinger.
Senior Palmer Flight: Fort Worth, TX player Sean Fenton grabbed his second win on the season by one stroke over Michael Fee from Mansfield. Fee played the back nine in two over par, but couldn't overcome some early round struggles to get the win. Four strokes back Danny Nicholls, also from Mansfield, TX rounded out the top three.
Hogan Flight: Scott Harper from Ranger, TX picked up his third win on the season by a stroke despite a penalty stroke on one of the greens for mis hitting his ball. One stroke back Stephen Cannon from Dallas and Brownwood, TX resident Brenton Fillers shared the second place spot.
Senior Hogan Flight: Edmond, OK traveler James Surber followed up a runner up finish in Tulsa on Saturday with his first win on tour. Greg Sheppard from Carrollton, TX shot a one over par 37 on the back with the help of a couple of birdies to stay within one stroke of Surber for second place. Argyle, TX member Paul Burleson finished in the third spot to widen his Player of the Year Points lead.
Sarazen Flight: Gabriel Brisco from Mesquite, TX cleared the field by three strokes for his first win on the year. Burleson, TX member Britt McMullen had his best finish on tour with a four stroke cushion over a trio in the third spot. Houston Tour traveler Forrest Robinson from Spring, TX, Nancy Geihl of Grand Prairie, TX and Jimi Clark from Dallas shared the third place finish.
Senior Sarazen Flight: Sanger, TX ace Stephen Killion recorded his third win of the year and National Championship qualification by two strokes over Bob Moreau from Plano, TX. Arkansas Tour guest John Hamilton from Hot Springs Village, AR and Rob Robinson from Plano finished tied for third two strokes back of the second spot.
Jones Flight: Brandon Litzner from Coppell, TX carded his second win on the season by five strokes over Canton Classic @ Twin Lakes winner Melvin Wilson III from Dallas. Forth Worth, TX first time player Andy Eldridge rounded out the top three.
Senior Jones Flight: Wylie, TX member Mike Logsdon used his first birdie of the day to beat out David McCasland Red Oak, TX in the extra holes sudden death playoff. Both players had a two stroke cushion over third place finisher Ron Hardy from Lewisville.
Snead Flight: Garrett Tidman from Little Elm, TX punched his invitation to the National Championships with his third win on the year by three strokes over Billy Hendrix of Flower Mound, TX. Parker, TX player Dion Casto finished one stroke back of Hendrix for the show position.

First Monday Weekend in Canton - Canton Classic at Twin Lakes
Scott R Chilcutt, Canton, TX (June 2, 2012) Twin Lakes Golf Course sits on 200 acres of Eastern Texas rolling hills in the middle of the 1,000 acre Twin Lakes Nursery. Located south of Canton, TX and the First Monday Trade Days where the world's largest outdoor trade days takes place Thursday through Sunday before the first Monday of every month.
Players from the Dallas, Houston, Oklahoma and Virginia Tours made the trek for a beautiful day with some welcome swirling winds. With the beauty of the golf course and surrounding area it's clear that this group knows how to not only grow trees, but fairways and greens. Melvin Wilson, III took home the Tournament Champion, presented by Labor Finders trophy.
RESULTS:
Championship Flight: Scott Blackshear from Hideway, TX, playing in his second event on tour, went off and left the field with five birdies, carding a -4/68 eight strokes clear of Grand Prairie, TX member Larry Vannatta. Vannatta secured his second place finish with a birdie on the par 4 - 16th hole when third place finisher Anthony Peppler from Dallas found one of the many rose bush complexes with his drive on the 18th hole.
Palmer Flight: Midlothian, VA traveler Chad Netherton followed up a front nine 42 with a one over par 37 on the back to finish with a one stroke cushion over Roland Lewis from Tulsa, OK. Lewis missed a short par putt on the 17th hole to force a playoff but, finished with a par on the over the water par 4 - 18th to finish two strokes ahead of Fort Worth, TX resident Sean Fenton.
Hogan Flight: Houma, LA native John Hunt playing out of the Houston Tour grabbed his third win of the season with an eight stroke advantage over second place finisher Denver Roden from Irving, TX. Coming out with three birdies in his first seven holes, Roden took a lead to the 15th tee, but ran into problems on the final four holes. One stroke back sharing the third spot honors were the threesome of Mike Davis of Carrollton, TX, Ranger, TX Scott Harper and Todd Landrum from Coppell, TX.
Sarazen Flight: Rockwall, TX player Joseph Roy eased to his first win in two years on the tour, four strokes in front of Nancy Geihl from Grand Prairie, TX. Roy picked up a couple of quick birdies on the 2nd and 3rd holes and played steady until a couple of doubles on the 15th and 16th holes. Geihl hasn't finished out of the top 5 in 2012 and continued her streak two strokes clear of Mesquite, TX player Gabriel Brisco rounding out the top three.
Senior Sarazen Flight: Playing in his 19th event of the 2012 points season, Houston Tour member Jim Craig from San Felipe, TX secured his fourth win of the season. One stroke back Irving, TX first year player Ray Torrez took the lead in the Summer Series points one stroke clear of Burnie Rodgers from Haslet, TX with his best finish since moving to the Senior Sarazen Flight.
Jones Flight: Melvin Wilson III from Dallas, TX sailed to his first win on tour seven strokes clear of Grandbury, TX newcomer Greg Preissinger. After a win his first time out on tour, Preissinger edged out Keith Bruce from Gordonville, TX for the second place finish.
Senior Jones Flight: Lewisville, TX trophy maker Ron Hardy snatched his fifth win on tour and fourth in his last five events. Hardy, on a roll since his Major Championship playoff win at the Lake of the Ozarks Classic edged out Houston Tour traveler Mike Murphy from Corrigan, TX by a stroke. Murphy ran out of gas on the last two holes, but stayed ahead of Paul Vessels from Mesquite, TX rounding out the top three.
Snead Flight: Doyle Fleming from Haslet, TX grabbed his third trophy in the last four outings by a whopping twelve strokes over Joe Torrez of Midlothian, TX in the second spot. Torrez edged out Flower Mound, TX member Billy Hendrix by a single stroke for second spot.
